Help Make ZTrek One of NJ’s Premiere Cycling Events
ZTrek has the goal to be one of New Jersey’s most popular and highest-quality summer cycling events. What makes it so great? The dedication of a corps of volunteers that creates a wonderful experience!
All volunteers will be able to attend the event festival and volunteers in select positions are eligible to ride in the event for free!

8:15am – 4:00pm
6 volunteers needed
SAG Drivers patrol the course in their personal automobile, provide minor technical support and transport riders who can’t complete the event back to the start/finish area. A bike rack and floor pump are required. Since you are out on the course all day, you can’t ride a bicycle in the event.
Aid Station Crew
Various shifts 9:15am – 3:00pm
15 volunteers needed
There are multiple aid stations on the course where riders may take a break, replenish supplies and help themselves to complimentary food and beverages. Your job is to assist them by having supplies ready. Since you will be on the course, you can’t ride in the event.
9:30am – 1:30pm or 1:30pm to 5:30pm
8 volunteers needed
The festival is one of the biggest highlights of ZTrek. The Festival Crew directs riders into the festival, checks them in, passes out chocolate milk, and helps with merchandise processing. Since you need to be at the finish area early, there isn’t time for you to ride the entire event.
Technical Support Crew
8:15am – 4:00pm
5 volunteers needed
Technical Support Crew are mechanics who patrol the course in their vehicles and provide technical support to riders who experience mechanical problems on the course. Since you are out on the course all day, you can’t ride a bicycle in the event unless we approve you to provide support via bicycle.
Friday Night Registration & Check-In (July 27)
6:30pm – 9:30pm
2 volunteers needed
The Registration Crew checks riders into the event, and hands out the ride packages. This job is indoors. You can ride the event for free if you volunteer for this position.
Route Marshals & Sweep Riders
7:00am – 5:30pm (route dependent)
12 volunteers needed
Route Marshals help provide traffic control and rider support during the ride. May include initiating phone calls for support, assisting with basic bike maintenance (e.g., flat tires) and generally watching for hazardous conditions on the route. 4 positions are available for each distance; 25, 45, 65 and 100 miles. Start times will be staggered to ensure good distribution of marshals along the routes. The marshal riding in the sweep position will make sure that there are no riders left on the course. They begin after the last wave of riders leave and follow the last rider(s) in. Registration is free as you keep an eye out for the safety of your fellow riders.
